Apparatus for controlling a fastener driving tool, with user-adjustable torque limiting control
An improved hand-held fastener driving tool is provided with an adjustable torque limiting control. The tool is portable, and is electrically powered using either a battery pack or a power cord as a power source. The tool drives collated fasteners (e.g., screws) into solid objects. The motor current is measured to determine the amount of torque being applied to a screw by the motor and mechanical drive components. As the screw bottoms out, the motor torque increases to a point where it exceeds the user-adjusted torque limiting control. The motor is automatically turned off at that point, thereby preventing the screw from being stripped.

Power tool housing
A transmission housing for a hammer drill comprises two clamshell halves and that mate to define a first transmission housing chamber and a second transmission housing chamber disposed on either side of a ball bearing race. The first and second transmission housing chambers are interconnected by channels. The rear end of a hollow piston, a cylindrical bearing, a crank pin and a crank plate are disposed in the first transmission housing chamber, and a spindle is disposed in the second transmission housing chamber. Overflow channels and allow movement of air between the first and second transmission housing chambers to reduce compression of air iduring reciprocation of the hollow piston.

Vibration reduction apparatus for power tool and power tool incorporating such apparatus
A vibration reduction apparatus for use with a hammer tool having a hammer piston is disclosed. The hammer piston is caused to reciprocate in the cylinder by rotation of a gear wheel and crank drive. A cam is mounted around the gear wheel, a counterweight surrounds the piston cylinder, and a cam follower is provided on the counterweight. The cam follower on the counterweight is urged into contact with the cam by a biasing element. The external profile of the cam is such that rotation of the gear wheel causes oscillation of the counterweight in anti-phase to motion of the hammer piston to counteract vibrations produced by operation of the hammer action of the tool.

Powered hammer device
The present invention relates to a powered hammer device including: a hammer with at least a first and a second projection; at least one translation dog adapted to engage with said projections, and a drive mechanism capable of moving the translation dog substantially reciprocally between a first and a second opposed directions, characterised in that the translation dog is adapted to engage with the first projection to move the hammer in the first direction, the translation dog then engaging the second projection to move the hammer in the reciprocal second direction.

Lubrication system for impact wrenches
A lubrication apparatus, system and method for a tool is disclosed. The tool includes a rotating impact assembly and the lubrication apparatus, system and method directs lubricant from a radially outward position to a radially inward position in the impact assembly.

Lock-out for activation arm mechanism in a power tool
A power tool, such as a nailer, having a driver, a flywheel and an activation arm for selectively driving the driver into contact with the flywheel to transfer energy therebetween to cause the driver to translate. The power tool includes a bar that may be moved so as to resist movement of the activation arm in a direction that would bring the driver into contact with the flywheel. A method for operating a power tool is also provided.
